Flying Granny
In June 2007, an 80 year old granny took to the skies in aid of multiple sclerosis.
In June 2007, Isobel Craigie turned 80, and to celebrate this momentous event she took to the skies and completed a wing-walk. Not one to be put off an adventure, Isobel was determined to defy gravity and prove you don't have to be young to be a fundraiser. Isobel was one of the many people taking part in the wing-walk at the Emmerdale Extravaganza in Aberdeen on the 9th June. As you can see from the smile on her face, she loved taking part and enjoyed the adrenalin high from soaring through the skies. Isobel has been fundraising in aid of multiple sclerosis for many years and has raised over £40,000 by baking, knitting and organising events in her home town of Ballater. To read more about Isobel's exciting plans and how she got on, or to sponsor her, you can visit her at www.flyinggranny.wetpaint.com or www.justgiving.com/flyinggranny
And the award goes to...
The Institute of Fundraising has honoured Isobel's contribution to fundraising by awarding her with the title of Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year. We are all delighted that Isobel's hard work, courage and determination has been recognised. For someone who always thinks of others, it is lovely to have everyone honour her in return. Congratulations Isobel and thank you once again for all your fantastic support and generosity.
