MS Society - Edinburgh University Centre for Translational Research
“Translational” research means putting in place processes whereby basic (lab) scientists and clinicians work closely together and inform each other’s work. This approach is generally accepted to be the best way to speed up the development of new treatments.
The project will run for 6 years and is supported by a grant of £2,033,162 from the Society. The University is providing laboratory space and funding for some posts. The Centre will build on the University’s track record in translational research and relevant disciplines – e.g. neuroscience, inflammation and stem cells. Professor Charles ffrench-Constant has been recruited to lead the development of this centre. For more information about Professor ffrench-Constant and his work, you can download below the talk he gave at the ms space: 'Repair in MS'. The talk has been split into five documents. You can also watch the talk on-line.
